13 Baby Bathtime Essentials
- 1
-
Nappies, No need to stick to the same brand all the time some shops own brand nappies are just as good and worth a try as nappies can be very expensive!
- 2
-
Baby wipes or Cotton wool for nappy changes, depending on baby's sensitivity. Cotton wool and water is always recommended for the early days.
- 3
-
Cotton wool, for topping and tailing the baby and for bath time.
- 4
-
Mild baby shampoo, not essential for a newborn unless they have a good head of hair!
- 5
-
Mild baby bath, can be put in the water after baby's face has been washed, is all you need to wash a newborn's hair and body.
- 6
-
Baby wash, more suitable for older babies, as it can make the baby very slippy and hard to hold.
- 7
-
Baby oil, can be used for drier skinned babies or for baby massage.
- 8
-
Baby lotion, can be used to keep babys skin soft although not essential.
- 9
-
Talcum Powder, not essential but a lot of mums like putting powder on after a bath.
- 10
-
Baby bath, can be useful in the early days but non essential as you can bath baby in the big bath so long as you feel confident to hold baby securely
- 11
-
Top and Tail bowl, non essential but handy for topping and tailing and also for nappy changes in the early days when using cotton wool and water and also for bath time for washing baby's face.
- 12
-
Bath support, non essential are for holding baby in the bath to let you wash with both hands which is a good advantage. Its a good idea to learn to bath your baby without one of these as you will more than likely need to bath your baby outwith your own home and will need the skills for manual bathing!!

Have the towel ready over your knees before you put baby in the bath, so you don't have to fumble around for it whilst the baby is in the water, then when she's finished you lift her straight out onto your knees and wrap her up snug.
